Playhouse South, A Community Theater will hold open auditions for one of the world's best loved musicals, ANNIE on June 14-16, 2010 at the Clark Haines Theater, 3700 Far Hills Avenue in Kettering. Registration begins at 6:30 pm with auditions starting at 7:00 pm. Please park in the parking lot located at Schyler and Far Hills. Entrance to the auditions will be through the glass doors located at the front of the building.

Auditions for the roles of Annie and Orphans will be June 14, 2010. Girls auditioning for Annie will need to realistically portray an 11 year old girl. Auditionees for Molly need to appear 6. All other girls able to play ages 7-14 are welcome to audition for the remaining orphans (Kate, Pepper, Duffy, Tessie, July and the orphan chorus). All girls will be asked to sing TWO excerpts from the show, Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile and Hard Knock Life. Please visit the theatre website for a link to downloadable sheet music. Both songs will be reviewed with the music director at the audition. A simple dance will be taught at the audition. Tap dancing is a plus but not required.

Auditions for Adult Principle Roles and Ensemble will be June 15 & 16, 2010. Casting will be for principle roles and ensemble parts including Hannigan, Warbucks, Grace, Rooster, Lily, FDR, Drake, Mrs. Pugh, A Star to Be, Bert Healy, The Boylan Sisters and other speaking, singing and dancing roles including a featured dance group. Anyone age 14 & up is welcome to audition. It is not necessary to attend both nights of audition.

Please prepare a vocal selection that is at least 16 bars and no longer than one minute from a standard musical theater show. Songs from the show are welcome, but not required. Those auditioning for featured dance roles only are not required to sing. Please bring sheet music or a cued CD with instrumental accompaniment. An accompanist will be provided. There will be cold readings from the script and a simple dance will be taught. A more challenging dance combination will be taught to those auditioning for featured dancers, Rooster, or Lily. Tap is a plus.

Please come prepared to discuss any schedule conflicts at auditions. Sheet music, callback information, rehearsal schedule, character breakdowns and a map to the theatre are all available on our website at www.playhousesouth.org.
