MadLab Theatre and Gallery will present Theatre Roulette 2010 at 8:00, May 6th-May 29th, Thursday though Saturdays at MadLab Theatre and Gallery, 227 N. 3rd St. Columbus. All 12 shows will be presented on the final day of the festival, May 29th beginning at 2 pm. Tickets cost $12, $8 Students/Seniors, $6 Members. Call 614-221-5418 or visit www.madlab.net

With this, their 11th annual Theatre Roulette, MadLab took a different approach to their script submission process. Wit most of their time and energy focused on finding a new space or alternative space to present their 2010 season, there would not be time for the usual process where the MadLab team would go through hundreds of submissions from across the country and around the world. Instead, they reached out to the many playwrights within their ensemble and in the Columbus theatre community as well as playwrights who they had worked with in prior Theatre Roulettes. From this group of scripts, 12 were selected. 3 were written by MadLab ensemble members, another 2 by Columbus playwrights with the remaining 7 from playwrights who had previous Roulette experience.

Auditions were held in January. 21 actors were cast in 39 roles. Four of them will make their Roulette debuts (Christina Duryea, Becky Horseman, Travis Horseman, and Mary Sink). This will be Christina's MadLab debut. 14 of Madlab's 25 ensemble members accepted roles with many accepting multiple parts.

CRAZY/TALK - Some crazy people who talk crazy.

LET LYING DOGS SLEEP by John Busser

CAST AND CREW

Jason Sudy as Greg
Michelle Batt as Amanda

Directed by Scott Tobin

The NE Ohio based Busser's Dr. Wu Must be Eliminated, about two nitwits working for a Bondian supervillain, closed the 2008 version of Theatre Roulette.

Josh Kessler as Writer
Travis Horseman as Mr. Silver
Christina Duryea as Actress
Andy Batt as Actor

Directed by Jennifer Feather and Jim Azelvandre

This is Miss Feather's second piece featured in Theatre Roulette. Her play, The Rebuttal was featured in Theatre Roulette 2006 and again as part of MadLab's Quintessential Roulette in 2009. Azelvandre directed the hit of 2009's Theatre Roulette, Alien Hand Syndrome.

NARCOLEPTIC PILLOW FIGHT by Alex Dremman

THE FINAL SCENE OF A NINETY-SIX HOUR LONG PLAY

by Scott Tobin

The Final Scene of a Ninety-Six Hour Long Play depicts three actors who come down to the homestretch after being on stage for nearly four days straight. Peter Graybeal as Tucker

Directed by Justin Toomey

Scott Tobin, who has had over 50 plays produced nationwide, and several locally with MadLab, O.G. Productions, and On The Verge Productions, has his first play produced for Theatre Roulette. Justin Toomey makes his Roulette directing debut.
TALK/DIRTY - Dirty people talking dirty

CRACKING NUCKOLS

On her broken porch swing, Granny Nuckols sucks in air from an oxygen tank, smokes Camel cigarettes and sings Patsy Cline, grasping at straws as she tries to articulate to her granddaughter the importance of what's never been there.

CAST AND CREW

Randi Morgan as Nuckols
Traci Weaver as Dusty
Andy Batt as Man
Stephen Woosley as Man
Brendan Michna as Man

CAST AND CREW

Travis Horseman as Tristan
Vicki Andronis as Ginny
Jason Sudy as Matt
Melissa Bair as Laura

Directed by Sarah Brunet

Dremman's 2nd selection for this year's Roulette reunites the actresses who performed in his On the Porch One Crisp Spring Morning as Vicki Andronis stars and Sarah Brunet directs this fast paced, claustrophobic piece.

TOUCHY FEELY by Greg Vovos

Two men meet in the back halls of a large corporation: one, Doug, a married man who's tuned out a long time ago; and the other, Ted, a man who's reached that point in life - either he touches someone's life soon or he just might go off half-cocked.

CAST AND CREW

Jim Azelvandre as Doug
Travis Horseman as Ted

Directed by Andy Batt

This is the 3rd show Greg Vovos has had performed as part of Theatre Roulette. In 2005, Today's Special was performed and in 2008, The Memo. The only Theatre Roulette show this year to feature Jim Azelvandre, recognized as Best Actor by The Other Paper last year, and as Best Actor by MadLab every year.

MadLab ensemble member Kessler has his first piece done for Roulette. It's also the first musical in Theatre Roulette history. Kessler has had 2 pieces done as part of MadLab's 3in30 as well as a piece performed by O.G. Productions which is fitting as the co-founders of O.G. productions are also the directors for Nothing At All.
