Local Performance Artist Presents Bawdy Solo Performance About Infertility At Eclipse Theatre

In Inconceivable: And Other Absurdities, Ohio-based performance artist Danielle Mari channels more than a dozen characters as she guides the audience through her twisted fallopian tubes in the true story of her quest to become a mother. Danielle Mari performs her solo show for one night only at 8pm on Saturday, August 5 at the Eclipse Theatre, 670 Lakeview Plaza Blvd, Suite F Worthington, OH before heading off for a three-night run at the St. Louis Fringe Festival. Danielle Mari's Inconceivable! And Other Absurdities returns to Ohio after playing at Chicago's Victory Gardens Theatre and at the Columbus Civic Theater. This one-woman show traces the bizarre, poignant, and often bawdy adventures in infertility as told by the proud owner of a Picasso-esque reproductive system. The journey includes teams of doctors, a chorus of well-meaning friends extolling the virtues of "just forgetting about it," and a pair of very naughty puppets. This aerobic romp through the ins and outs of baby-making speaks to anyone who has, in the attempt to attain a dream - little by little - found herself acting like a crazy person.

Theatre Vault reviewer Anne Grove describes the show as "pithy and passionate storytelling at its most gusty level: sharp, engaging, and energetic... And really, who knew a chair could be such a funny, funky, sexy prop?" Columbus audience members' comments characterize the show as "fearless," "universal," and "a story of redemption flawlessly executed."

ABOUT THE PERFORMER: Danielle Mari worked extensively in the Chicago theatre scene for fifteen years with companies including the Second City National Touring Company, Vitalist Theatre, Infamous Commonwealth, BackStage Theatre, the Blue Rider, Theatre Katabasis, and Victory Gardens. Since moving to Ohio, she has directed for the Opera Project Columbus (assistant), Raconteur Ensemble, Rosebriar Shakespeare, and Curtain Players. Danielle has also appeared on stage with Rosebriar, Raconteur, Eclipse Theatre, Evolution Theatre Company, Available Light Theatre and Columbus Civic Theater. She teaches Theatre and Language Arts at Village Academy Schools, where she is the proud Thespian director for troupe 6116. She holds her Master's in Theatre Arts from Northwestern University and her BA in Theatre and English/Writing from Knox College.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR: Prior to moving to Ohio, Zeke Rettman lived and worked in Los Angeles since 1996 as an actor, and as a director and producer for live theatre. He won the 2009 NAACP Award for his direction of Ragtime at the Hudson Theatre in Hollywood. In 2012 and 2013 respectively he won acting awards at the IFS Film Festival for lead actor and through the National Film Challenge for ensemble. For his direction of live stage he has received "Critics Choice" and "Pick of the Week" nods from the LA Times and LA Weekly. As a commercial voice over actor he has been heard in over 100 television and radio commercials. Zeke served as The Managing Director of the Hudson Theatres in Hollywood for 15 years helping to elevate its status to one of LA's top intimate theatres. He continues to work as a consultant with the Hudson Theatres. Locally, Zeke serves as the Executive Director for Opera Project Columbus and teaches Theatre Arts and Improvisation in the Arts Conservatory at Village Academy in Powell, OH.
