Grandview Heights High School Theatre Arts Program presents PLAY ON! and AN AFTERNOON OF SCENES

The Grandview Heights High School Theatre Arts Program presents Play On! a comedy by Rick Abbot with direction by April Olt. This is a production where everything goes wrong (Think Noises Off meets Waiting for Guffman!) Welcome to the Dunbar Drama Society. This company is in desperate need of a fund-raiser, so they decide to partner with a new local playwright to present a production that will save their community theatre. Unfortunately, the playwright's constant interference in rehearsals, a cast of "strong personalities", and the over-worked crew, cause the director to have a difficult time keeping the production moving forward. Join us for this hilarious, mad-cap adventure that will keep you laughing from the opening curtain until someone brings down the house! This production is rated PG, and some material may not be suitable for young children.

An Afternoon of Scenes will be presented on Saturday, November 5th at 2:00 pm. This is a "pay what you want" performance with all proceeds benefitting the theatre program at GHHS. This program features original pieces created by the students of the GHHS Theatre Arts Program. The theme that we explored to create these scenes was "Inclusion: An Understanding of our Own Implicit Bias." This production is co-directed by Mimi Day and Jules Zimmerman.

The Play On! cast is Andy Landram and Sarah Anne Kauffman as Henry and Polly Benish; Brian Gilleland as Saul Watson, Andrew Bergmann as Billy Carewe, Gretchen Varner as Violet Imbry, Ashley Linville as Marla "Smitty" Smith, Alexandra Joseph as Geraldine "Gerry" Dunbar, Hannah Tose as Aggie Manville, Sophie Beacom as Louise Perry, and MicaH Clark Moody as Phyllis Montague. An Afternoon of Scenes cast is Mimi Day, Aria Cadeau, Claire Fishpaw, Gracie Fishpaw, Brian Gilleland, Maya Hanscel, Chrissy Harker, Mary Beth Kauffman (understudy in Play On!), Liz McDermott (understudy in Play On!), Audrey Wade, and Jules Zimmerman (understudy in Play On!). Additional understudies for Play On! are Erin McLauchlan, Grant Stephens, and Devin Sapp.

The Play On! performance dates are Thursday, November 3 through Saturday, November 5 at 7:00 pm. An Afternoon of Scenes, Saturday, November 5 at 2:00 pm. Performances are in the Grandview Heights High School Auditorium at 1587 West Third Avenue, Columbus, OH 43212. Play On! tickets are $5.00 with a discounted student price of $1.00 on Thursday, November 3. An Afternoon of Scenes is a "pay what want".
