Rehearsals for the new J.T. McDaniel dark comedy COMING OUT are entering their final week as the cast prepares for the world premier on Friday, October 4, at The Abbey Theater of Dublin. "We've put together a group of very talented actors," says author J.T. McDaniel, who also plays family patriarch Bob Anderson. "We're committed to making this the best new play of the year."
COMING OUT relates events at the 40th anniversary of central Ohio college professors Bob and
Susan Anderson. As the family gathers, their younger son comes out as gay. Complicating affairs is the Anderson's rabidly homophobic evangelist elder son, a pregnant secretary, and marital discord from an unexpected quarter.
Directed by
Colleen Dunne, COMING OUT features author McDaniel,
Brenda Newsom, Jim LeVally, Martha
Kathryn Smith, Jai Furlong, Will 'TuTail' Smith,
