What are two young gentlemen in the early 18th century to do when they are left penniless as the result of having squandered their family fortunes? They seek rich wives, of course - the sooner, the better.

Actors' Theatre of Columbus is producing THE BEAUX' STRATAGEM as its final play of the Schiller Park Season. The comedy will be performed every Thursday through Sunday evening at 8:00 p.m. from August 1 to September 1. It is directed by Adam Simon. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to make the experience more comfortable.

Written by George Farquhar, adapted by Thornton Wilder, and adapted again by Ken Ludwig, the play was first performed in 1707. As the two young gentlemen soon learn, to paraphrase Shakespeare: "The course of true love (whether of a person or of money) never did run smooth."

John S. Kuhn, who serves as Artistic Director of Actors' Theatre says, "It is a fun play. Ludwig is the playwright for some of our most popular plays, including The Three Musketeers and Treasure Island. Our audience will love The Beaux' Stratagem."

Following The Beaux' Stratagem, Actors' will be offering the always-popular Romeo and Juliet, at the Columbus Commons at 7:30 p.m. every Friday through Sunday night September 13 through the 22.

Kuhn points out that, as always, there is no charge for tickets to the productions. "We are pleased that we are able to continue to offer our summer productions at no charge. However, we strongly encourage attendees to make donations to support our efforts. Donations remain an important income source for our continuing sustainability."
