Following a smash-hit run in Toronto, TRUWORTHY PRODUCTIONS (Sergio Trujillo & Jack Noseworthy) is thrilled to announce the South American Premiere of the musical ARRABAL at the Ibero-American Theatre Festival, for five performances this week from March 11-14, 2016. Directed and co-choreographed by Olivier Award winner Sergio Trujillo (On Your Feet!, Jersey Boys, Memphis), with music by Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla (Brokeback Mountain, Babel) and a book by Tony Award nominee John Weidman (Contact, Assassins), ARRABAL is a rock 'n' roll-meets-tango dance musical-a unique piece of sexy, high energy theater which tells a powerful story, both personal and political, almost entirely through propulsive music and movement.

Our heroine is Arrabal, a young girl on the verge of womanhood, whose father Rodolfo was "disappeared" by the brutal military junta which ruled Argentina during the "Dirty Wars" of the 1970s when Arrabal was just an infant. Eighteen years later, taking her courage in her hands, she sets out to discover what became of the father she never knew, embarking on a coming of age journey which will lead her into the sultry, steamy world of Buenos Aires' shadowy underground tango clubs. There, after a series of adventures, unnerving, intimidating and exhilarating, she discovers, not just the truth about her father's fate, but also romance, redemption, and the beginning of a joyous new chapter in her life.

Born in Buenos Aires, shaped by a remarkable collection of Argentine artists, Arrabal is driven from start to finish by the unique, high-powered music of Bajofondo, the Argentine/Uruguayan band fronted by composer Gustavo Santaolalla. Under the direction of award-winning Colombian-American director/choreographer Sergio Trujillo, it delivers a dazzling, unforgettable theatrical experience while telling a story which must never be forgotten.
