The Killing Room is a ghost story set in the South. A lonely pianist in a silent moviehouse begins having uncontrollable nightmares. The dreams focus on the pianist's dead parents, the true identity of his father, and something far scarier. Being pushed toward madness, the pianist goes on a wild quest for answers through his past. But the answers he finds may ultimately destroy him.

MadLab's Managing Director Andy Batt said, "The Killing Room pushes the boundaries of presentation. It takes a familiar film style-50s horror/suspense movies-and moves it to the stage."
Batt first read Mark Cornell's play in 2007, when The Killing Room beat out 400 other local plays and was scheduled for production. Because of complications the play was postponed until 2009.
"Getting an opportunity to work on a Mark Cornell script is always a pleasure," Batt said. "Not only is he a fantastic writer, but also very easy to work with."
The Killing Room is just the latest collaboration between Cornell and MadLab. Other Cornell works produced at MadLab include The Inciting Incident and an unnamed short film.
