Actors' Summit Akron's Professional theater's 1980 Pulitzer Prize winning play Talley's Folly, by Lanford Wilson opens tonight. A dessert reception with the director and cast follows the performance on opening night. The show runs until May 1.
Talley's Folly, set in Lebanon, Missouri, deals with the courtship of the young Sally Tally and her Jewish suitor, Matt Friedman. This is a warm, rich, love story to savor and cheer.
Charles Isherwood of the NY Times says Talley's Folly is "A valentine to two lost souls finding each other."
Keith Stevens joins us for this show as Matt. Keith has appeared at Actors' Summit in over 35 productions and most recently, Same Time Next Year. Keith holds an MFA from the Actors' Studio in New York, where he is a life time member. Keith recently appeared as Bif in Death of a Salesman at Ensemble Theatre of Cleveland.
Shani Ferry appears as Sally Talley. Shani is a long time company member at Actors' Summit. She appeared this past fall in Quilters. Shani has also appeared in A Grand Night for Singing, Making God Laugh, Romantic Fools and Last Train to Nibroc, among many others.
Kevin P. Kern is the Guest Director for Talley's Folly. Kevin is the Chair of the Department of Theatre at the University of Mt. Union in Alliance Oh; and the Artistic Director of Shakespeare at the Castle. Kevin holds an MFA in theatre, and is Equity actor. Kevin was last seen onstage at Actors' Summit as "David" in My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding.
Tally's Folly performances are April 14 through May 1; Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
Tickets are on sale now through the box office at 330-374-7568 and online at www.actorssummit.org. Tickets are $33 for adults, $28 for seniors over 65; and $10 for all full time students under 30. Special discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.
All tickets for the April 14 Preview are $20 and are available at the box office and online.
The theater is located on the sixth floor of historic Greystone Hall at 103 S. High St., in downtown Akron. It is handicap accessible and has free parking.
