Shadowbox producers have selected and confirmed six troupes to participate in their first annual Sketch Comedy Festival, July 21 and 22 at their sketch comedy and rock ‘n' roll club located at the Easton Town Center.

Troupes from the Midwest region and beyond plan to join Shadowbox in the two-day festival featuring special guest, original Saturday Night Live cast member Garret Morris.

The festival begins on Tuesday, July 21st, when each troupe will perform a short set on the Shadowbox stage and receive feedback from Garrett, Jerry Elliot (morning radio show host on QFM) and Julie Klein (Shadowbox sketch comedy writer and leading performer.) The festival continues on Wednesday when a single sketch from each troupe will be featured in "The Best of the Fest" show. Garrett Morris will also be performing in classic Shadowbox sketches and, as always, house band BillWho? will round out the evening.

This is the first year for what Shadowbox hopes will become an annual event. "Sketch comedy festivals are happening all over the country. But there's only one professional sketch comedy troupe in the world. So why not have a sketch comedy festival in their hometown?" said Shadowbox Executive Producer and CEO Steve Guyer.

Participating in 2009's Shadowbox Sketch Comedy Festival are:

The Laughter League, Cleveland, OH
Wilhelm Scream, Cincinnati OH
The Indicators, Louisville KY
Three Dollar Bill Comedy, Indianapolis IN
Cell Camp, Chicago IL
Feral Chihuahuas, Asheville NC

The Shadowbox Sketch Comedy Festival will provide a platform for theatrical troupes that have chosen sketch comedy as their primary art form. Shadowbox hopes this festival will raise awareness of the performance style itself, as well as the troupes that are bold enough to commit to the genre.

"Columbus has already embraced Shadowbox," continued Guyer, "And by embracing this festival the city is joining the ranks of other great cities across the country who have also gotten behind this art form."

The Shadowbox Sketch Comedy Festival takes place on Tuesday, July 21st, and Wednesday, July 22nd. Tickets are $10 for Day One, $20 for Day Two, $25 Two-Day-All-Access Pass. For information and reservation call the Shadowbox Box Office at 614-416-7625 or go online to www.shadowboxcabaret.com.
