When 18-year old Orange High School senior Miles Sternfeld began preparing for his senior project, he knew exactly what he wanted to do: bring Broadway to Cleveland. And that's exactly what he's done. With the help of mentor, Sean Szaller (who also serves as the production's musical director), Sternfeld set out to produce a one-night only benefit performance of "The Who's Tommy" which, coincidentally, was the first full blown musical he was in as a child. Miles was also very clear that he wanted all proceeds from this production to benefit Broadway Cares - and Joe Norton at BC/EFA was happy to jump on board to offer his support.
Tonight, July 29th at 7:30pm, "The Who's Tommy" will play a one-night engagement at the Cuyahoga Community College Eastern Campus Theater in Highland Hills, OH.
Nick Blaemire (Godspell, Dogfight, Glory Days) will step into the title role of the pinball wizard. As Tommy's conflicted parents, Michael Berry (Next to Normal, Les Mis) and Jodie Langel (Martin Guerre, Les Mis) will lend their incredible talents to the production. Lastly, vocal powerhouse Adrienne Warren (Bring it On) will step into the shoes of the Gypsy (the Acid Queen). These four guest artists will be joined by a myriad of Cleveland based performers to make for an electrifying production. All AEA artists are appearing courtesy of the Theatre Authority, Inc.Rounding out the production team will be choreographer, Martín Céspedes, lighting designer, Benjamin Gantose and sound designer, Carlton Guc. The cast will be accompanied by eight of the finest union musicians in Cleveland.
Tickets range from $15-$65. VIP passes will allow guests to join private pre/post show receptions and mingle with the cast. Visit the show's website for complete details and ticketing information: www.TommyBenefit.com.
