Beck Center for the Arts will welcome the popular independent café Gypsy Beans to their campus. The coffee shop and bistro opens at 7 a.m. on Thursday, November 1. Beck Center is located on the west end of Lakewood at 17801 Detroit Avenue. In addition to metered street parking, free onsite parking is available in the lots east and south of Beck Center's Main Building.
Gypsy Beans at Beck Center, in the space formerly occupied by Beck Café, is the second location for owner Nicole Gillota, with the original café located in the Gordon Square Arts District at West 65th Street and Detroit Avenue. "I was beginning the search to expand the Gypsy brand when the opportunity at Beck Center presented itself," said Gillota. "I'm pleased to be located in Lakewood, especially within another arts community."
Described as a traditionally-styled European coffee house and bistro, Gypsy Beans features locally roasted coffees, a variety of pastries and desserts, and a signature Bistro Menu that focuses on fresh, local and seasonal ingredients made daily at the Gordon Square location. "I have been asked numerous times over the years to add a Gypsy location for west side customers. My staff and I are excited to finally be able to do this!" exclaimed Gillota.
Gypsy Beans at Beck Center hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Beck Center for the Arts is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that offers professional Theater Productions, arts education programming in dance, music, theater, visual arts, early childhood, and creative arts therapies for special needs students, and gallery exhibits featuring local, regional and International Artists.
