Ensemble Theatre and Cleveland Shakespeare Team for VOODOO MACBETH, Now thru 6/8

Ensemble Theatre's TheatreCLE concludes its 2013-2014 season with VOODOO MACBETH in collaboration with the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival. Originally written by William Shakespeare and adapted by Orson Welles, the production will be directed by Celeste Cosentino and Tyson Rand, opening May 23. The production plays Thurs.- Sat. at 8pm; Sunday at 2pm through June 8th. Preview performance: tonight, May 22nd.
In 1936, Orson Welles created a historic production of this play, casting a company of African-Americans and moving the setting from Scotland to one that evoked Haiti in the 19th Century, under the reign of the slave-turned-emporer Henri Christophe. Ensemble Theatre, in partnership with the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival, are recreating and re-imagining this landmark production and working from the Federal Theater Project's script.
