Fairmount Center for the Arts will welcome celebrated Broadway actress and former Fairmount student, Elena Shaddow, to their upcoming benefit, Discover the Artist Within, on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at John Carroll University's Dolan Center. Originally from Chagrin Falls, Elena is pleased to return to her hometown from New York for this special event that supports her roots at Fairmount Center. She will perform songs that highlight her career thus far and also pay tribute to her Fairmount Center days. Additional festivities for the evening include dinner, a performance, interactive art, a silent auction and a special performance by The No Name Band.

Ms. Shaddow most recently starred as Anne Dindon in the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of La Cage Aux Folles at the Longacre Theater. Her past Broadway productions include The Woman in White, Fiddler on the Roof, Nine, Sweet Smell of Success, and Les Miserables. She has toured in several productions, including playing Clara Johnson in the first national tour of Light in the Piazza.

Elena got her start on the Fairmount Center stage two decades ago in the popular Youth Theater Lab. As a Fairmount student, her roles included Jiminey Cricket in Pinocchio, Ursula Merkle in Bye Bye Birdie, Belle in Christmas Carol, and Pippi Longstocking in Pippi Longstocking.

On Saturday, March 3, Elena will be teaching a master class for students in grades 8-12 at Chagrin Falls High School Performing Arts Center from 9-11 a.m. Ms. Shaddow will share performance techniques as well as stories from her years of work on Broadway. For details, call 440-338-3171.
