Cleveland Stage Alliance (CSA) presents "Dirty Pop: The Millennium Mixtape," at the Bop Stop, now part of the Cleveland Music Settlement, on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at 8 PM.
Featuring some of Northeast Ohio's top talent, "Dirty Pop: The Millennium Mixtape" will consist of iconic hits from the late 90s and early 2000s. Performers will pay tribute to the era with original arrangements of Christina Aguilera, The Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Britney Spears and more.
"Dirty Pop: The Millennium Mixtape" is the inaugural concert in CSA's new concert series that celebrates various beloved aspects of pop culture in a festive evening of song. Following the current trend set in New York by such popular series' as "Broadway Sings," "54 Sings" and others, "CSA Presents..." will utilize local talent to perform material outside of the musical theater canon, with a theatrical flair!
The concert is produced by CSA founder Eric Thomas Fancher and local actor/director Joanna May Hunkins, and music directed by Jordan Cooper. Fancher has appeared onstage at Cain Park, Lakeland Civic Theatre, Blank Canvas Theatre and most recently at Ensemble Theatre. Hunkins is the associate director of The Musical Theater Project and will be directing the upcoming production of Godspell at Cain Park. Cooper has music directed at Near West Theatre, Dobama Theatre and is the resident music director at Lakeland Civic Theatre.
Singers appearing in "Dirty Pop: The Millennium Mixtape" include Leslie Andrews (Lend Me A Tenor at Beck Center), Douglas F. Bailey II (Godspell at Cain Park), Tasha Brandt (Debbie Does Dallas at Blank Canvas Theatre), BJ Colangelo (Godspell at Cain Park), Ellis C. Dawson III (Baldwin Wallace Music Theatre Program), Neely Gevaart (Violet at Lakeland Civic Theatre), Dan Hoy (Baldwin Wallace Music Theatre Program), Shane Patrick O'Neill (The Light in the Piazza at Lakeland Civic Theatre), Treva Offutt (Director at Heights Youth Theatre), Robert Pierce (Jerry Springer the Opera at Beck Center), Danny Simpson (American Idiot at Beck Center), Carleigh Anne Spence (Mary Poppins at Beck Center), Matthew Ryan Thompson (Altar Boyz at Playhouse Square), Meg Wittman (The Frogs at Cain Park) and MacKenzie Wright (Baldwin Wallace Music Theatre Program).
