Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) is proud to announce the opening of CPT's 2018/2019 season with Teatro Público de Cleveland's ¡OBRAS EN EVOLUCIÓN 2018! A FESTIVAL OF NEW PLAY READINGS, onstage October 4 - 6, 2018, in CPT's James Levin Theatre.

About ¡OBRAS EN EVOLUCIÓN 2018! A FESTIVAL OF NEW PLAY READINGS

Be a part of future Teatro Público de Cleveland work! Teatro Público de Cleveland presents a workshop series of new scripts and scenes written by local Latino artists. Experience work-in-progress plays as actors and directors make bold choices with scripts in hand!

¡OBRAS EN EVOLUCIÓN 2018! A FESTIVAL OF NEW PLAY READINGS is a behind-the-scenes glimpse of work-in-progress. Audiences witness plays that are still unfinished and in the process of developing.

Featuring 5 works-in-progress, performances include live music and Latin food before every show, plus a post-show dance party on Friday and Saturday. Audience members are invited to engage with the creative process and give feedback following each showing.

According to Teatro Público de Cleveland ensemble member, Blanca Salva: "To me, TPC s productions are more than simply hearing new playwright readings; they are about sharing stories written, directed, and performed by Latinos and/or those of Latino heritage. Attending TPC shows is a way of supporting our fellow Latino actors, engaging non-Latinos, and creating an environment of cultural understanding and acceptance. TPC shows are unlike any other theatre experience. We not only give you new, never before seen or heard or performed plays, we share food and music from various Latino nations and give the audience the opportunity to meet the playwrights, actors, directors, and take the live theatre experience to a whole new level. All for less than the price you pay for a movie ticket."

Jason Estremera, CPT Board Member and Teatro Público de Cleveland ensemble member states: "When you attend a TPC show, not only are you getting quality work that is culturally relevant, but you are also entering a completely immersive experience filled with music, food and dancing. The new play festival of readings is an incredible opportunity to see how far the group has come because all of the performances are written, directed, and performed by TPC members-many of whom never had any formal training outside of CPT. This is an exciting time for our group and for our audiences."
