According to Cleveland.com the Cleveland Play House has laid off five of its senior staff members in an effort to reduce costs and maintain high-quality productions. The Play House will also lessen the amount of shows they will be putting on. All five shows remaining on the 2008-09 lineup will be produced.

With more than twelve Broadway shows closing this month alone, these announcements comes as no great surprise.

Wednesdays cuts will reduce payroll costs. The playhouse still employs about 50 people year round with more or less coming on as the shows are being produced.

These cuts will trim the Play House budget to about 6 million.
