Beginning with an empty stage and a single microphone, Cirque du Soleil veteran Jamie Adkins musters up the courage to face what he fears most; public speaking. Circus INcognitus, a brand new show filled with hilarious circus hi-jinx and zany acrobatics comes to PlayhouseSquare March 14th for two very special performances at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in the Ohio Theatre.

Each step of Mr. Adkins quest is fraught with new challenges, but for every problem there is a solution - no matter how unusual! Follow Jamie as he overcomes his fears with juggling, balancing (sometimes simultaneously) and a witty sense of humor on this quest that manages to entertain while teaching all those in attendance to never give up, even when the going gets tough.

Jamie Adkins began his career at the age of 13 in San Diego, where he delighted passers-by as a street performer. Later, in San Francisco, he joined the Pickle Family Circus. It was not long after that this eclectic clown, juggler, balancing artist and poet joined Montréal's Cirque Éloize. With his numerous talents and years of experience Jamie became an integral member of the Cirque Éloize family of artists, making an invaluable contribution of the show Excentricus. In over 500 performances of this production, Jamie distinguished himself with his unique style that faithfully and humorously conveyed the essence of the ordinary man.

Jamie again teamed up with Cirque Éloize to produce Typo, a show of his own creation, which toured the world giving more than 200 performances over 2 years. He won the admiration of critics and adoration of the circus-going public. The New York Times recently stated: "Though Mr. Adkins' best routines draw ohhs and ahs he is just as successful in drawing laughs."

Circus INcognitus takes the stage March 14th at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in the Ohio Theatre at PlayhouseSquare. Ticket prices range from $10 to $20 and are on sale now at the PlayhouseSquare Ticket office (1519 Euclid Avenue), by calling 216-241-6000 or online at playhousesquare.org.

Back by popular demand! Project Discovery Workshops are designed to introduce children to the imaginative world of live theater. During the one hour long workshop, The Ohio College of Clowning Arts will introduce your child to the basic principles of clowning. Children will learn the physicality of creating a new character and make-up techniques used by clowns. Each child will receive their own make-up template for more fun at home!

The Discovery Theater Series for Families is made possible in part by a grant from the Ohio Arts Council. Additional funding for special literacy activities and for the series in general is provided by the Children's Theatre Endowment established by the Junior League of Cleveland and the Laub Foundation.

PlayhouseSquare is a not-for-profit performing arts center that presents and produces a wide variety of quality performing arts, advances arts education and creates a destination that is a superior location for entertainment, business and housing, thereby strengthening the economic vitality of the region.
