Yasmina Reza's LIFE x 3 finds an easy metaphor this hurricane season. The external storm reflected in three "what if" scenarios, includes decision making, professional and marital vicissitude and reveals inner character.
In a limited September/October engagement at Kennedy's Down Under, Playhouse Square, the play, a 90 minute evening, is presented by Cleveland's small minimalist professional company, focusing on visceral behavior with comic acuity.
Yasmina Reza, a French playwright, novelist and screenwriter of mixed ethnicity, has achieved critical and popular international success. She is best known for her plays ART and GOD OF CARNAGE.
In discussing the many staging's of her work, Reza explains; "There is no one stage version, - sometimes it's more comic, sometimes more tragic." She might even prefer minimalist abstract staging in non-commercial venues. "When you write for the theater, you are accustomed to creating something that is very precise when you read it. But after that, when you see it taken in hand by a director, you see changes."
Cesear's Forum continues to present works of social commitment and theatre experimentation. The production will follow the playwright's intended use of a minimalist setting by Michael Larochelle, with lighting by Andrew Kaletta, costumes by Aimee Kluiber and staged by Artistic Director Greg Cesear. The cast includes: Tricia Bestic, BrIan Bowers, Dana Hart and Julia Kolibab.
The production is sponsored, in part, by Cuyahoga Arts and Culture.
