Cleveland Public Theatre Executive Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan is proud to announce ROAD TO HOPE at LAKEVIEW TERRACE, one of a series of free performing arts events-inspired by the triumphs of the Underground Railroad-that celebrate hope, honor Cleveland history and engage with contemporary social justice issues. Activities will take place in six Cleveland-area neighborhoods from January through June 2016, produced in conjunction with Cleveland Public Theatre's third annual Station Hope celebration on April 30 at historic St. John's Episcopal Church, Cleveland's first authenticated Underground Railroad site.
ROAD TO HOPE at LAKEVIEW TERRACE is presented in a partnership with The City of Cleveland, Ward 3 Councilman Joe Cimperman and Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) and will feature a full program of theatre, dance, music, spoken word and multimedia performance created by Northeast Ohio artists. ROAD TO HOPE at LAKEVIEW TERRACE will give audience members a "sneak peek" of Station Hope, including short excerpts from larger performances, discussion and collaborative activities that address some of the most important issues of our time.
Station Hope 2016 and Road to Hope neighborhood events are generously supported by the "Our Town" program of the National Endowment for the Arts.

About Station Hope 2016
Now in its third year, CPT's Station Hope is a free, multi-arts event that celebrates hope, Cleveland's social justice history and explores contemporary issues. Station Hope 2016 is Saturday, April 30th from 6:00pm-10:00pm and will take place at historic St. John's Episcopal Church, the first authenticated Underground Railroad location in the City of Cleveland. St. John's Church (and the city of Cleveland, generally) was known as "Station Hope" to the freedom-seekers who sought refuge there, the final stop before crossing Lake Erie to freedom in Canada. Station Hope presents theatre, dance, poetry, music, puppetry and multi-media installations that explore Cleveland's Underground Railroad history and current day social justice issues, created by over 150 artists from across Northeast Ohio and performed in St. John's sanctuary, parish hall, basement and outdoor locations in and surrounding the historic site.
The National Endowment for the Arts' Our Town grant program supports creative placemaking projects that help to transform communities into lively, beautiful, and resilient places with the arts at their core.
