Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) presents ROAD TO HOPE at Christ Episcopal Church on Saturday, April 9th from 6:00pm-9:00pm, 3445 Warrensville Center Road, Cleveland OH, in the east inner suburb of Shaker Heights. Road to Hope at Christ Episcopal Church is the third of a series of performing arts events to be presented by CPT and community partners in multiple neighborhoods across the Cleveland area between January and June 2016. Visitors will enjoy a full program of theatre, dance, music, spoken word and collaborative art installations created by Northeast Ohio artists, inspired by Cleveland's role in the Underground Railroad and modern day struggles for freedom and justice.

ROAD TO HOPE at Christ Episcopal Church and other Road to Hope events will culminate in CPT's third annual Station Hope celebration on Saturday, April 30th, 2016 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ohio City, a historic landmark and Cleveland's only authenticated Underground Railroad site.

Road to Hope and Station Hope are made possible in part by a selective $150,000 matching grant award by the National Endowment for the Arts' Our Town program, which supports creative placemaking projects that help to transform communities into lively, beautiful, and resilient places with the arts at their core. Cleveland Public Theatre, in partnership with the City of Cleveland, is proud to be among the 69 organizations nationwide to receive this prestigious award.

About Station Hope 2016

Now in its third year, CPT's Station Hope is a free, multi-arts event that celebrates hope, Cleveland's social justice history and explores contemporary issues. Station Hope 2016 is Saturday, April 30th from 6:00pm-10:00pm and will take place at historic St. John's Episcopal Church, the first authenticated Underground Railroad location in the City of Cleveland. St. John's Church (and the city of Cleveland, generally) was known as "Station Hope" to the freedom-seekers who sought refuge there, the final stop before crossing Lake Erie to freedom in Canada. Station Hope presents theatre, dance, poetry, music, puppetry and multi-media installations that explore Cleveland's Underground Railroad history and current day social justice issues, created by over 250 artists from across Northeast Ohio and performed in St. John's sanctuary, parish hall, basement and outdoor locations in and surrounding the historic site.
