Inspired by the classic 1988 Twentieth Century Fox film big starring Tom Hanks, this family friendly musical features a book John Weidman, music by David Shrine, and lyrics by Richard Maltby Jr. The original screenplay by Gary Ross and Anne Spielberg is brought to life on stage as young Josh magically changes from kid to adult after making a wish to a Zoltar machine. After his shocking transformation, he learns to embraces "adult" things like getting a job and having a girlfriend. By the end he discovers that we all grow up at our own pace, in our own time.
Russel Stich directs the cast of Beck Center students who range in ages 7 to 19. "We have had a great time creating a grownup world as viewed through the eyes of a child," remarked Stich. "While adults may be familiar with the Tom Hanks' film, big The Musical promises something new for everyone with a number of catchy songs and great comedic moments that showcase the talents of this amazing young cast." This production is musically directed by Matthew Dolan and choreographed by Rebecca Frick.
