Mahler on the Couch, selected as the opening night film for the 2011 New York Jewish Film Festival, will make its Ohio debut in a one-night-only screening at the centerpiece of the 2012 Drexel Gala on Sunday, October 28. This exuberant imagining of the real-life marriage of Gustav Mahler (Johannes Silberschneider) and his tempestuous wife Alma Schindler Mahler (the luminous Barbara Romaner) is a sensory feast of art, attraction, and celebrity in turn-of-the-century Vienna.
Prior to the screening, the second annual Drexel Hero Award will be presented to Bonnie K. Milenthal. The Drexel Hero Award was created to acknowledge the contributions of individuals for their support of the Drexel Theatre and independent film in the community. One of the founding board members of the Friends of the Drexel, Inc., Milenthal is a recognized and celebrated business leader and dedicated volunteer whose advocacy, vision, and leadership has transformed the central Ohio community.
