The Theater Barn is excited to announce two new Improv workshops – one for adults, and one for teens. Taught by the coach and director of the Role in the Hay Players, Rick Hodder, Fundamentals of Improv focuses on agreement, banishing fear, the elements of Improv scene work, and most especially, teamwork. You will use these tools to play games like those seen on Whose Line Is It, Anyway?.
Improv helps you learn how to think on your feet and helps with public speaking and assertiveness. Rick has a knack for bringing this all to life in a low-stress, fun environment. All experience levels are welcome, and all you need to take this course is the desire to have fun and to learn – you don’t need to be funny, nor do you need to prepare or memorize anything.
Beginning March 22nd, the adult workshop (18 and older) will meet Sunday evenings from 6-8pm and run through May 3rd (no classes April 5th or 12th). The teen workshop (grades 9-12) will meet Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm starting March 24th (no class April 28th). Both workshops will culminate with a performance for friends and family on May 8th.
Rick Hodder has been studying, performing, and teaching Improv for close to 20 years and is a founding member and director of the Theater Barn’s Improv troupe "The Role in The Hay Players." Rick studied at Gotham City Improv, the Upright Citizens Brigade, and is currently studying Improv at the Magnet Theater in NYC.
Classes will be held at the Ridgefield Theater Barn, 37 Halpin Lane. Early registration is strongly recommended, as class sizes are limited. Register online for both workshops at ridgefieldtheaterbarn.org.
