Master Electrician
Northern Stage in White River Junction, VT seeks an experienced Master Electrician to join the full time staff. Northern Stage is a LORT D 240 seat regional theater, producing a 6-show mainstage season between the months of August and May, plus educational programs, a New Works festival, and 4-6 other events year-round. The Master Electrician is responsible for leading the electrics department in executing the approved lighting designs for all Northern Stage productions and events.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee day-to-day operations within the electrics department, leading the hang, focus, maintenance, and strike of all electrics for each production, and ensuring a safe and healthy work/learning environment for staff and apprentices.
Interpret and budget light plots, organize rentals/borrows, and facilitate communication with lighting designers, working with designers to ensure that all designs are completed within deadlines and budgets.
Implement and execute any and all onstage practicals, atmospherics, and special effects.
Collaborate with Sound/AV department on projection-related needs and how they interface with lighting (Sound/AV takes the lead on projections).
Program and operate an ETC Ion lighting console as needed.
Maintain and repair electrics inventory and manage renting/borrowing relationships with neighboring organizations.
Acquire and maintain MSDS (material safety data sheets) for products used by the electrics department.
Work with PM to hire electrics staff, including full-time staff and over hire.
Provide support for events outside the mainstage and education seasons as needed.
Support other production departments as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years professional lighting experience as ME or equivalent, including experience working on multiple productions within tight timelines and budgets.
Ability to coordinate and implement lighting designs and to manage budgets.
Advanced knowledge of the ETC Ion, Lightwright, and Vectorworks.
Proficiency in networking and troubleshooting lighting control systems.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, collaborative, communication and leadership skills.
Ability to ensure proper maintenance and usage of all lighting equipment and hand tools.
Ability to work on ladders, in lifts, and at heights of up to 21’ on a tension mesh grid.
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a box truck.
Ability to lift 75 lbs.
Expect to work some nights and weekends in this position as the schedule requires. Starting salary for this position is $715/week. Housing is available for lease through Northern Stage ranging from $1,000-$1,200/month, all utilities included. Contract dates are 6/1/20-5/30/21.
