The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati kicks off its 86th MainStage season October 15-17 and October 23, 2010 at the historic Taft Theatre with the local premiere of Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman's swashbuckling musical, How I Became a Pirate.
This delightful new musical is based on the best-selling children's book by Melinda Long with illustrations by David Shannon. AARRRRGH! Really, who doesn't want to be a pirate? When young Jeremy Jacob and his exceptional digging skills are recruited by Captain Braid Beard for treasure burying purposes, Jeremy thinks the pirate life is for him, until he realizes that the simple things in life, like a kiss and a warm tucking in at night are those that are most important.
The show is being directed by Jack Louiso. How I Became a Pirate is ideal for family with children ages 4+. It will be presented for the public at the Taft Theatre at 317 East Fifth Street, in Downtown Cincinnati, 45202 on Friday, October 15 at 7:30 PM. Saturday, October 16 at 2 PM. Sunday, October 17 at 2 PM. And Saturday, October 23 at 2 PM and 5 PM. Author Melinda Long is tentatively schedule to be at the theater to sign books (purchased in the lobby) before the Friday, October 15 at 7:30 PM performance only
Don't miss The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati's Family Gala: October 16, 2010 at 5 PM. This family event features a private performance followed by dinner, games, dancing and fun for all ages at the Scottish Rite Ballroom. Tickets are $100 for adults and $50 for children. Seating is limited.
