A three-show series as the Cincinnati Pops 2010 season opener at Music Hall doesn't seem to be enough for Cincinnatians. Idina Menzel is returning Saturday, June 25th to open another Cincinnati Pops season, only this time it's the summer concert season at the Riverbend Music Center. Last September, Menzel brought audiences to their feet multiple times with her soaring voice, performing a variety of songs, including a few showstoppers from the Broadway blockbuster WICKED (which is sure to sell out the Aronoff Center this November as part of the Broadway Across America series), including "I'm Not That Girl," "For Good," and of course, "Defying Gravity." She also enthralled audiences with a song from her own album, I Stand. Arguably the most enjoyable aspect of Menzel's performance is the way her personality comes throughand her ability to connect with the audience by sharing stories from her personal life, including singing bits of songs she and husband Taye Diggs sing to their young son. For this performance, Menzel will be joined by Matthew Kraemer, with whom she has performed many symphony shows with previously. This is one show you won't want to miss.
Menzel recently posted a video on her website, expressing her excitement about her return to Cincinnati.
