Know Theatre of Cincinnati is very excited to announce a special performance from Cincinnati Fringe Favorite Kevin Thornton and his NEW show, Stairway to Kevin. Stairway to Kevin will be performed Friday September 6 and Friday September 13, 2013.
Stairway to Kevin received rave reviews and experienced sold out houses at the recent Kansas City and Indianapolis Fringe Festivals.
Touring comedian Kevin Thornton is turning 40 and questioning everything. Join him for a hilarious round-the-world journey on the search for the meaning of life.
"Now that I've seen Kevin's latest autobiographical song-and-story show I can tell you that it was a core-shaker for me. I am tearing up again, just thinking about its transformational qualities. Kevin doesn't use the word transformation in his show but he does refer to turning 40 and reaching other forks in his life's road. And last night, as he shared some of the transformations he's been through recently, and the transformations he is bravely moving towards, and his insights on transformation in general, all through very specific, unusual, hilarious, and wise personal stories and songs shared in a gifted and fully present way, I could feel my own view of myself and my road expanding and transforming and becoming clearer, too. I understand why some truth seekers go to the wilderness but Kevin's show is a great example of why I often seek - and find - truth at the theatre." - IndyTheatreHabit.com
Thornton toiled at Nashville area coffee shops for many years chasing the elusive record deal with his band Waves On Waves. His first musical effort Had A Sword won the Nashville Scene Music Award for Best Experimental Rock shortly before they disbanded in 2008. Frustrated, he relocated to Los Angeles and on the dare of a friend began frequenting Hollywood stand up comedy open mics. Within a few months he was named a Los Angeles Times "Best Bet," had been featured on NPR's All Things Considered and became a "New Faces Winner" at The Comedy Store in Hollywood. In 2011 Thornton was a guest lecturer at University of California, Berkeley where he spoke about the successful use of his podcast and social media in connection with his national touring act.
All tickets for this performance are $12. Tickets can be purchased by visiting cincyfringe.com or knowtheatre.com or by calling the box office at 513.300.KNOW (5669).
