Know Theatre of Cincinnati is pleased to host a fundraising opportunity for the Acclaim Award's Guest Equity Artists Grant. This after-show cabaret will feature musical direction by Alan Patrick Kenny and special Emcee Robert Pavlovich, and performances by members of the Adding Machine: A Musical cast, friends of Know Theatre of Cincinnati, former recipients of the Acclaim Guest Equity grants, and former Acclaim rising stars including Charlie Clark and Broadway veteran Mark Hardy. The cabaret themed party will occur after the performance of Know Theatre's Adding Machine: A Musical at 10 p.m. on February 26th.
The Acclaim Awards is dedicated to celebrating local Cincinnati theatre and providing opportunities for artists through a variety of outlets such as awards and grants. The Acclaim Awards in cooperation with The League of Cincinnati and with the support of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation have established the Acclaim Award's Guest Equity Artists Grant. These grants help support the salary of local Equity artists working at a League theater with a budget under $500,000 and comply with regulations of the League of Cincinnati Theatres. The Guest Equity Artist grants are administered by the Theatre Artist Project Fund of the Acclaim Awards. This grant helps local theatres acquire the high caliber of working Equity actors in Cincinnati.
The cabaret event will take place at the Know Theatre on February 26 following the performance of Adding Machine: A Musical. Cast members and local professional actors will sing and entertain cabaret participants. Bob Pavlovich will be the Emcee for the evening. All cabaret ticket sales and donations will go toward this grant.
Adding Machine: A Musical, an adaptation of Elmer Rice's 1923 play, is a heartbreaking and brilliant tale of the life of middle-class worker, Mr. Zero. After 25 years of service to his company he is replaced by a mechanical adding machine and in a vengeful rage, murders his boss. Zero arrives at an afterlife in the Elysian Fields where he is forced to decide his fate for eternity. The angelic and remarkably eclectic score gives each character a unique voice for their hopes, dreams, and failures as they wander through their monotonous and darkly comic lives.
Cabaret tickets are a suggested donation of $10, but only $5 with the purchase of an Adding Machine: A Musical ticket. Tickets to Adding Machine: A Musical are $12 in advance and $15 on the day of the performance. You can purchase them online www.knowtheatre.com or call the Know Theatre box office at (513) 300-KNOW (5669). All donations will go toward funding the grant. Help Know Theatre and the Cincinnati community celebrate this wonderful opportunity to benefit local artists.Adding Machine: A Musical with original music by Joshua Schmidt and libretto by Jason Loewith & Joshua Schmidt based on the play The Adding Machine by Elmer Rice.
