Aftershock! An Event! (In Senszurround), an all-original work by Fake Bacon Productions, has been selected for the Cincinnati Fringe Festival which runs for the first twelve days of June.

Aftershock! An Event! depicts the story of an ill-fated attempt by unreformed lothario architect, Ketch Hale, to construct a hotel in the crevice of an active faultline. Coerced by his billionaire father-in-law Thomas St. Mount to complete the project, Ketch distracts himself with every woman in the hotel while fearing its inevitable destruction, as predicted by noted scientist Sandy Nixon. In a world where hopes and dreams are trapped underground, lives are torn apart as characters collide with a scientific premise as irrefutably implausible as any respectable disaster movie plot.

Aftershock! An Event! will utilize the most amazing, state-of-the-art environment simulation device used in any Cincinnati theater this particular June. This technological marvel, Senszurround, will flawlessly recreate the physical experience and sensations of an actual earthquake. Or will at least create a generalized seat-area vibration.

Aftershock! An Event! debuted as a world premiere production in April 2009 at MadLab Theater in Columbus, Ohio, with a series of sold-out performances.

Scott Tobin conceived the story as homage to the 1974 disaster movie Earthquake, and collaborated with director John Kuhn in leading improvisation sessions with the performers to further develop scenes and dialogue before completing the final script. Nearly all performers are members of Columbus-based shortform improv troupes Fake Bacon and The Shimmy Shake Project.

Aftershock! An Event! will be performed as part of the Cincinnati Fringe Festival. There will be five performances over the course of the festival, all taking place at the Know Theater, 1120 Jackson Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202. Dates and showtimes are:
