Cincinnati Shakespeare Company (CSC) has completed construction of The Otto M. Budig Theater and will be hosting a Ribbon Cutting and Welcome Celebrations Events this weekend, August 11-13, 2017. The Official Ribbon Cutting will be at 6pm on Friday when CSC Leadership will be joined by Mayor John Cranley and Otto M. Budig out front of The Otto M. Budig Theater at 1195 Elm Street as they "cut" the ribbon using traditional Shakespeare swords and daggers! Then guests will move inside the theater various locations in the lobby and building are dedicated and "toasted" with glasses of champagne. This event is invite only.
On Saturday, CSC will host a Welcome Celebration open house for invited guests to tour and visit the new theater. The Cincinnati public will have its first opportunity to come inside The Otto M. Budig Theater on Sunday August 13, 2017 at the Family Festival! This event is presented by ArtsWave and is open from 3-7pm at the theater followed by a FREE Shakespeare in the Park performance of "Romeo and Juliet" in Washington Park at 7pm. CSC will be offering guided tours of the theater and back stage spaces, as well as activities for children of all ages, and presentations from various arts groups and collaborators. Visitors will also get a special sneak peek at the rehearsal and creative process for "A Midsummer Night's Dream" which is opening on September 8. There will be Midsummer Fairy themed crafts and face painting, storytelling and music, and Stage Combat Workshops for the whole family!
The events on Friday Aug. 11 and Saturday Aug. 12 are invitation only. The Family Festival on Sunday Aug. 13 is open to the public and is free. There is no ticket or RSVP required.
The first production at The Otto M. Budig Theater is "A Midsummer Night's Dream" opening on September 8, 2017 and playing through September 30, 2017. Tickets and subscriptions are on sale now.
