How do the children of Greater Cincinnati see and interpret the world around them? Find out as the Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) hosts an exhibition of artwork by local students based on the theme "Identity." The exhibition will be on display in the Aronoff Center's Fifth Third Bank Theater (7th & Main Streets, downtown Cincinnati) from Saturday, April 17 - Sunday, May 2, 2010. Exhibition hours are Thursdays & Fridays, 3:00 - 7:00 PM and Saturdays & Sundays, 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM. The Student Art Show is free and open to the public.
Representing students from grades K - 8, the diverse collection of two-dimensional artwork will include mediums from pencil drawings to textiles to multi-media. The Student Art Show is organized and presented annually by CAA's Department of Education and Community Relations, with the assistance of the Weston Art Gallery. In its eighth year, the Student Art Show traditionally has been on display in the Aronoff Center's Center Stage Room. However, due to increased number of entries in recent years, CAA has moved this year's exhibition to the larger space of the Fifth Third Bank Theater.
"Children often have a unique perspective of the world around them and the CAA's Student Art Show is a wonderful opportunity for them to creatively express and share their views with the public," says Kathleen Riemenschneider, CAA's Assistant Director of Education & Community Relations. "It is a thrill for the students, their families and friends, and CAA to display these works prominently at the Aronoff Center."
The Student Art Show this year has 132 entries on display from the following schools: Cincinnati College Prep Academy (Cincinnati, OH), E. H. Greene Intermediate School (Blue Ash, OH), Erpenbeck Elementary School (Florence, KY), Goodridge Elementary School (Hebron, KY), Highview Elementary School (Middletown, OH), Mercy Montessori Center (Walnut Hills, OH), Monroe Elementary School (Monroe, OH), Montgomery Elementary School (Montgomery, OH), Our Lady of the Visitation School (Delhi OH), Riverside Academy (Sedamsville, OH), Schilling School for Gifted Children (Deerfield Township, OH), Springer School and Center (O'Bryonville, OH), St. Augustine School (Covington, KY), St. Ignatius School (Montfort Heights, OH), St. Mary's School (Aurora, IN), St. Paul Catholic School (Sunman, IN), St. Thomas More School (Withamsville, OH), St. Vincent Ferrer (Kenwood, OH), and Summit View Middle School (Independence, KY).
