If these qualities and identities are mixed in one person, do you think it is incredible?
But in the history of Sweden, there is such a very diverse personality - he is: Gustav III.
In 1771, Gustav III became the ruler of Sweden. In history, he has quite done, but the contradictory character and ruling means have not only met the dissatisfaction and resistance of the opponents, but also been worshipped as "the light of eternal life." On March 16, 1792, he went to a costume ball. During the dinner, Gustav III received an anonymous letter threatening to kill him, but he ignored it. At the masquerade, Gustav III was assassinated and died 13 days later.
According to this historical event, the French writer Eugene Scribe created the play "Gustav III or Masquerade". In 1857, Verdi created the opera "Masquerade" based on the drama of Scribble. In 1859, "Masquerade" premiered at the Apollo Theater in Rome - "VIVA, Verdi!", the Romans gave Verdi and the opera a sizzling applause.
