With arguably his most exciting, enthusiastic and inspirational author events ever, children's writer Stuart Reid's world book tour heads to Hong Kong and Australia, as he brings his books about butts, boogers and big bottom burps to the Adelaide Festival.

Stuart Reid, author of the Gorgeous George series of children's books and renowned for his classroom chaos and cheeky charm, is heading Down Under in February to perform his Reading Rocks book events in schools around South Australia and at a series of shows at the Adelaide Festival. And he even has time to visit ten schools in Hong Kong on the way!

Kilt

The kilted author is well-known for his annual shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, engaging and inspiring children to learn to love reading. Last year over 3,000 people were in the audience to go bonkers about books and Stuart clocked up four-figure sales of his best-selling stories, such as Gorgeous George and the Jumbo Jobby Juicer.

"We had so many sell-out shows at the Fringe last year, and the feedback was incredible," claimed Reid. "One headteacher even described me as 'Billy Connolly for Kids!'. So when the bosses at Laughing Horse Comedy Festivals invited me to Adelaide, I just couldn't refuse."

In the last five years Stuart has performed to quarter of a million children at almost 2,000 schools, libraries and book festivals throughout Britain, Ireland, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as selling tens of thousands of books in his Gorgeous George series. Now Stuart is spreading the word, heading to Hong Kong at the beginning of February before continuing down to Australia and Germany in June.

Laughing Horse Festivals entrepreneur Alex Petty said "Stuart is an absolute force of nature! Engaging, educational and extremely entertaining, he is a master of his craft. We've been trying to entice him Down Under for a few years now and delighted that finally he's coming to Adelaide."

About the Author

Stuart Reid is one of the busiest children's authors in Britain today, performing at schools, libraries and book festivals throughout the UK, Ireland, Dubai, Abu Dhabi since 2012. He has hosted over 100 book events at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and in 2017, Stuart received congratulations for his work with the First Minister's Reading Challenge "Fantastic. Well done." Nicola Sturgeon.

Stuart pursued his dream to become a children's author by quitting his lucrative job in Dubai, where he was the first international general manager for the UK hotel chain Premier Inn. He had been writing a 2000 word blog every week talking about Middle Eastern life and opening hotels in Dubai which received 20,000 hits per month and was the most viewed on the company internal website so he decided to make it his career.

The six books in Stuart's Gorgeous George series have been met with widespread enthusiasm and international acclaim from young readers and the first four titles have even been translated into Turkish. The books were written to encourage children, especially boys and reluctant readers, to want to read more often. These storylines feature the characters Gorgeous George (a not-so-gorgeous 10 year old boy) and Grandpa Jock (his eccentric Scottish grandfather). The books are yucky, funny, imaginative and exciting enough to engage even the most reluctant of readers, yet with a stretching vocabulary that suits more developed children.
