Fans of femslash, your 'ship has come in. Whether you're down with OTP (One True Pairing) or you have an entire fleet of 'ships, we invite you to see Sapphic spoofs of your pairing's signature sizzle that celebrate and elevate the perfection of their connection. Iris Sowlat and Allison Fradkin, in collaboration with Otherworld Theatre Company, present Violet Surprise, a festival of femslash fanfiction parodies. The eleven short plays featured in the festival envision queer narratives and relationships for female characters from literature, TV, film, and theatre. Our playwrights, who saw Sapphic subtext in everything from sitcoms to Shakespeare, positively parody that subtext within the world of the original fandom. We'll be presenting parodies of Anne of Green Gables, The Avengers, Cagney & Lacey, Cinderella, Grey's Anatomy, Harry Potter, I Love Lucy, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Shakespeare, That's So Raven, and Wicked.
