The Last Five Years
Book, music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown
Directed by Resident Director Lauren Rawitz
It’s a musical view into a relationship as Jamie looks forward and Cathy looks back. This modern musical explores the five year relationship between Jamie, an up-and-coming writer, and Cathy, an aspiring actress. Filled with beautiful music, it’s an emotional ride as Jamie tells his story from the beginning of the relationship while Cathy begins at the end of their five years together. The pair only cross paths for one touching scene, their wedding. Chicago Tribune calls it, “exciting, innovative, and altogether inspiring,” and Associated Press says it’s “brimming with persistent melodies … a heartfelt, compelling story.” · Rated R
