The Oak Park Festival Theatre, Oak Park's premiere Equity theatre and the oldest professional classical theatre in the Midwest, has announced the cast and creative team for its summer show, William Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet, opening July 5th, 2024.
Lovesick Romeo Montague and vivacious Juliet Capulet have fallen madly in love. Unfortunately, the age-old feud between their uncompromising families forbids them from being together. William Shakespeare’s famous story of "love at first sight" is full of action and swordplay, features some of the Bard’s most memorable language, and ponders the inevitability of a tragic end when the convictions of youth are directly at odds with the commands of their elders.
Under the direction of Artistic Director Peter G. Andersen, a stellar design team includes Evan Frank (set) and Devin Cameron (lights) who return from last year’s remarkable production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The cast includes OPFT company members August Forman (Romeo) and Belinda Bremner (Montague), as well as Rachel J. Jones (Juliet), and Lucas Prizant (Mercutio/Sampson/Romeo u.s.) who performed in A Midsummer Night's Dream at OPFT last Summer as well.
The show also features Huy Nguyen (Friar), Jodi Gage (Nurse), Drew Bos (Benvolio), Josh Carpenter (Capulet), Talia Langman (Lady Capulet), Elijah Newman (Tybalt), Shaina Schrooten (Prince/Juliet u.s.), Jason Pavlovich (Paris/Page), and Julia Rowley (Gregory/Peter).
Experience this vivacious production outdoors under the canopy of Oak Park’s beautiful Austin Gardens!
