Private Lives
By Noël Coward
The show that proves there’s a fine line between love and hate. Noël Coward’s best known comedy is a plot-perfect marital farce that is sparklingly witty and wickedly vicious. Divorcees Elyot and Amanda are perfectly happy honeymooning with their new spouses in France. To their surprise, they bump into each other on their adjacent hotel balconies. Each trying unsuccessfully to convince their new spouse to leave immediately to avoid another awkward encounter, the two quickly reignite their old flame. Despite their volatile and stormy relationship in the past, the two cannot ignore the old attractions they feel and run away together to Paris. Quite a scandal for the socialites of the 1930’s, the respective jolted newlyweds follow suit and the comedic encounters continue. Rated PG-13.
