Gypsy is a classic Broadway musical with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by Arthur Laurents. Based on the memoirs of famous burlesque star Gypsy Rose Lee, the show follows the ambitious and domineering Rose, a stage mother determined to make her daughters, June and Louise, into vaudeville stars. As vaudeville declines, Rose’s relentless pursuit of fame drives June away, leaving the shy and overlooked Louise to take center stage. Over time, Louise transforms into the glamorous and confident Gypsy Rose Lee, achieving stardom in burlesque while Rose struggles to accept her daughter's independence. Featuring iconic songs like Everything’s Coming Up Roses and Let Me Entertain You, Gypsy explores themes of ambition, family, and the cost of success.
