This unique concert features virtuoso classical and electric guitarist Fareed Haque in his exploration of his Latin roots. Recently Haque came to the realization that there were few if any Latin American jazz guitarists playing Latin American music! While the folk music of Latin America is commonly heard around the world, the popular music of Latin America circa 1950 has rarely been taken as seriously as the same music stateside.Songs like Sabor a mi, Est Tarde Vi Llover, Contigo Aprend, and so many more, are wonderful vehicles for the classic electric jazz guitar.Haque will perform his own unique arrangements of classic Latin American popular songs he learned from his Chilean mother, his time in South America and years of touring with Latin jazz legends Paquito D' Rivera, Hernia Mann, Tito Puente and many others. Featuring Alex Austin, bass, Jose Maria Piedra, percussion and Gregory William Fundis, drums.Friday, April 12, 2019 7:30 P.M.Tickets $30www.MetropolisArts.comBox Office: 847-577-2121
