Now YPT returns for Chicago Theatre Week 2025 with a magical reggae musical for kids and families, celebrating the joyous music and message of the legendary Bob Marley.
Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds runs February 8 - March 2 at Lincoln Park’s historic Greenhouse Theatre Center (2257 N Lincoln Ave). For tickets and additional information, visit yptchi.org or call the box office at 773 404 7336.
BOB MARLEY'S THREE LITTLE BIRDS
Grab the kids and join YPT this winter in sunny Jamaica!
This family-friendly musical chronicles the story of young Ziggy (the name of Bob Marley’s son), a Jamaican boy who fears tropical storms, the ocean, spiders, and especially the sneaky “duppy” spirits of Caribbean folklore. But a mischievous companion and three sprightly feathered friends join Ziggy for a mountain-traversing adventure that will make clear that with a little bravery, “every little thing is gonna be alright!”
Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds is inspired by the delightful children's book Every Little Thing by Marley’s own daughter, Cedella Marley: "It's an honor to see my father's music connect with each new generation. My own children loved singing ‘Three Little Birds’ when they were little. It inspired me to write the book. It's positive, uplifting vibe is something the world needs more of, especially these days!”
YPT artistic director Randy White noted that, “one of the best things about making theatre for children is introducing them to new and unknown worlds—and with this remarkable musical we immerse Chicago families into the folkloric world of the Blue Mountains of Jamaica—and we do it with the most extraordinary catalogue of songs: Jamming, Stir It Up, One Love, the beloved Three Little Birds, and so many more Marley favorites. And the message that life is to be enjoyed to the fullest and fears faced and bravely overcome is one every child can appreciate!”
Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds runs 60 mins. The production is best for everybody 4+.
