The 2017 Season marks the 20th Anniversary of the Ballet Chicago Studio Company, an intensive performance program for highly talented pre-professional dance students who are preparing for careers on the stage. As a centerpiece of the Anniversary, on May 6, 2017, Ballet Chicago will present its annual Spring Series of two performances at the Harris Theater. This season’s production, Platinum Anniversary, will celebrate the Ballet Chicago Studio Company’s 20th Anniversary with a program featuring a World Premiere by renowned Chicago-based choreographer Frank Chaves set to original music composed by Josephine Lee, president and artistic director of Chicago Children’s Choir, and performed live by Lee and cellist Meena Cho. The performance also features George Balanchine's "Serenade", Ballet Chicago Founder and Artistic Director Daniel Duell's "Ellington Suite", and Ballet Chicago Resident Choreographer Ted Seymour's "Fragile, This Side Up" and "Secrets de Printemps". "a quiet miracle…impeccably clean technical execution…organic sense of breath…a rare treat for Chicago audiences.” Lynn Colburn Shapiro
