WSRep Presents World Premiere Of BOMBER'S MOON ImageWilliams Street Repertory (Founding Artistic Director Richard Kuranda) is excited to present the world premiere of Deborah Yarchun's (2017 - 2018 Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellow)"Bomber's Moon" at Raue Center For The Arts. This dark, romantic and intense two-character drama opens September 28, 2018 and runs select dates through October 21, 2018.

"New play development is among the most creatively rewarding work I have ever been a part of, both as an actor and a director," says Director and WSRep Ensemble Member Michele Vazquez. "It's thrilling to be a part of the creative process that brings a play to its first production, a world premiere."

In January 2018, Raue Center retired its $8.8 million debt, and is now able to focus on its future and the growth of its art. In-house professional theatre company, WSRep, is dedicated to diversifying the future of the arts through its work on stage and off. The theater company strives to cultivate a diverse, joyful and healthy community that empowers the individual, not only including the artists and technicians on stage, but the patrons and audience members off stage as well.

One way WSRep strives to bridge the gap between audience and artist is through its LAB Series. WSRep's new work staged reading series is committed to showcasing new scripts and emerging playwrights. Through LAB Series readings, WSRep shares insight into the artist's perspective of the play on the page and brings audiences and artists together to share and discuss a wide range of exciting new work.

Moon" began its journey from page to stage with WSRep as a 2016 - 2017 LAB Series season selection. Thanks to the elimination of the longstanding debt and the tremendous growth Raue Center has experienced over the past year, WSRep now has the necessary backing to complete the journey of bringing "Bomber's Moon" from page to stage with an ambitious world premiere mainstage production.

"New play development reminds me of something that I try to hold onto in my work and in my life," says Vazquez. "That there are always some 'noes' but there are also many 'yeses.' There is never just one way to do or be in this world," she continues. "New work requires that kind of openness and willingness to collaborate. It requires being open to the possibilities."

RaueNOW members were given an exclusive look at the journey of "Bomber's Moon" from page to stage during a Wine & Line held before the production's first official rehearsal on August 27, 2018. During this event, RaueNOW members were given a behind the scenes look at the world premiere production and the new play development process.

"After attending the Wine & Line we immediately booked our tickets! We enjoyed seeing so much of the process involved in bringing a play to the stage. Incredible amounts of research, creativity and care are taken at every step," says RaueNOW members Jeanne and Bob Rivera. "The actors are phenomenal and their chemistry is palpable! The play's tension, humor and historical elements work so well together," they continue. "We are incredibly excited to see the production!"

Set against the London Blitz, two lives are forever changed in "Bomber's Moon." After a devastating discovery, Katrin, an American socialite, seeks shelter in the basement of an abandoned music shop during the air raids. There she encounters Lloyd, a displaced, working-class East Ender. Over four charged, complicated nights sheltering in the music shop, Lloyd and Katrin find themselves connected in ways they never imagined. Everything becomes clear during a bomber's moon.

WSR's production of "Bomber's Moon" opens on September 28, 2018 and runs select dates through October 21, 2018 at Raue Center. For more information, visit wsrep.org.
