An aging drag queen gives a spellbinding final performance. Rejected at birth by his father for his facial blemish, Sugar sought affirmation and purpose anywhere and everywhere, until she discovers her true calling in the glamorous world of drag. Now, hope, pain, and need intermingle with her pursuit of stardom. She offers a journey through times of abandonment, joy and loss. Playwright Terence Boyle gives us a contemporary adaptation of Cain and Abel, exploring a life constantly plagued by the need for approval. In her final performance, Sugar must fight deep melancholy as her memories threaten to submerge her into despair.
Admission to the show is FREE. There will be a donation bucket at the show and the money will go to Equality Illinois, a charity organization committed to advancing equal treatment and social justice through education, advocacy and protection of the rights of the LGBT community.
