Village Players Performing Arts Center Presents:
At Large!

A Hilarious & Touching One-Woman Show Tackling Weight Issues

Continuing Village Players' commitment to the development of new works continues with the next production in the Blackbox Theatre: At Large!

At Large! is a brand new one-woman show that tackles weight issues head on.  Playwright and actress Keri Marcouillier interviewed many plus-size woman, as well as drawing on her own experiences, to write this show in the style of The Vagina Monologues.

"I was talking with my friends about my own personal issues with my body," says Marcouillier about the show's inspiration. "I needed to get a jump start on my own healing process, and I wanted to create something empowering. It started out more as a way for me to deal with my own issues, and in the process, I found that people of all shapes and sizes were open to what I was writing about. My hope now is that other people can see the show, appreciate the messages it offers, and feel empowered."

Marcouiller recently relocated to the Chicagoland area after graduating from Pine Manor College in Massachusetts.  She has worked with the summer camp program at Northlight Theatre.

The production is directed by VP Marketing Director Christopher Pazdernik. Recently, Pazdernik assistant directed Candide for Porchlight Music Theatre and Zanna, Don't at Bailiwick Repertory Theatre.  At Village Players, he directed the World Premiere of Katy & Judy and choreographed The Full Monty and Love in the Middle Ages.  Pazdernik is also a recent alumnus of the theatre and music departments at Elmhurst College.

At Large! runs November 20 - 23, 2008.  Performances are Thursday – Saturday at 7:30 PM & Sunday at 2:30 PM.  All tickets are $20.  A Q&A with Ms. Marcouillier will follow each of the performances.

Presented in the Blackbox Theater of Village Players Performing Arts Center located at 1010 Madison St., Oak Park. Plenty of parking is available on the street. The theater is handicap accessible; please call ahead to arrange for special seating.   Tickets available at www.village-players.org or by calling 866-764-1010.
