Uptown Underground to Offer Holiday-Themed Retrotainment

Uptown Underground, 4707 N. Broadway, celebrates the season like none other with chill-warming craft cocktails in a cozy speakeasy environment featuring retrotainment from burlesque and magic to cabaret and circus arts six nights a week. Featured performers include The Kiss Kiss Cabaret, Chicago Magic Lounge, Brass Chuckles Comedy, The Cabaret Project, Boy Toy's Pocket Cabaret, Pervesk' Burlesk', Muffy Fishbasket's Drag Nights, Acrobatica Infiniti and many others. Nightly cover charge ranges from $5 to $40 and includes a full evening of entertainment. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the first performance, usually beginning at 8 p.m. Uptown Underground is a 21 and over venue, minors are permitted with parental accompaniment. Nov. 5 - Barlesque 8: Bedtime Stories. This opening Night Party benefits Test Positive Awareness Network (TPAN). Barlesque is an annual competition for Chicago's sexiest bartender. 8 p.m., $25 cover charge benefits the charity and earns the purchaser a complimentary cocktail and $25 of "Barlesque Bucks" to vote for your favorite contestant. Performances by Kiss Kiss Cabaret and Chicago Magic Lounge along with all of this year's sexy contestants. Evening sponsored by FireBall Whiskey.

Nov. 6 - "The Big Red Show". Sexy songstress Meghan "Big Red" Murphy performs everything from pop to jazz, blues to showtunes, oldies to brand new hits. Evening features the incomparable Jimmy Morehead on keys and special guest stars. Separate $25 ticket required for this show only.

Nov. 6 and 7 - PopTease returns to the Moonshine Mainstage with their striptease take on chart topping hits from a range of previous decades. Join the PopTeasers for some sexy fun while The Kiss Kiss Cabaret puts the finishing touches on their annual Holiday Spectacular. Only two chances to see this hit show at 10 p.m. both nights.

Nov. 13 - Dec. 19 - Saturdays at Uptown Underground are decked for the holidays.The Kiss Kiss Cabaret presents their annual "Holiday Spectacular and Sparkle-Fest" with solo and variety acts dedicated to the delights of the winter season. Prance, twinkle and tickle your holiday fancies with our Christmas belles, The Kiss Kiss Coquettes.

Chicago Cabaret Project presents three rotating holiday shows; "Whiskey & Cherries," are the perfect way to celebrate Prohibition Repeal Day in Chicago, while "Molly's Holiday Follies" treats the audience to a little bit of everything to love about the season with Molly's own brand of quirky humor and deliciously warm vocals. A final reprise of "You Bette We Did" rounds out the trio of Saturday nights.

For something totally different, Pervesk' Burlesk' continues in their brand of performance art perversions with "Massacre on 34th Street," a unique spin on the holiday-feel-good

"Miracle on 34th Street". This show features burlesque and variety acts inspired by the darker aspects of the holiday. Family squabbles, drug abuse, naughty turkey stuffing techniques, Krampus, Grinches, Jack Frost, Hum-bugs, Jacob Marley, Christopher Columbus, Gremlins and more.

Nov. 24 - The Tuesday Tasting Series features a visit from Chicago Distilling at 6:30 p.m., which pairs delightfully with the dulcet tones of Underground Jazz Vocalist Rose Colella. Chicagoan Colella recently released her sophomore ablum

"Cocktail". She performs at 8 p.m., $20 tasting ticket includes a specialty cocktail. Jazz Series is a FREE admission.

Nov. 26 - Closed for Thanksgiving Day

Dec. 4 - Raks Geek: "Better than the Star Wars Christmas Special". Chicago-based Raks Geek is a bellydance, flow arts and fire company for geeks by geeks. The Star Wars Christmas Special features a bellydancing Wookie and more. 8 p.m., $20 cover charge.

Dec. 5 - Prohibition Repeal Party. The booze will flow at Uptown Underground to celebrate the anniversary of the end of prohibition. Special performances by The Kiss Kiss Cabaret, The Cabaret Project's "Whiskey & Cherries," and Pervesk' Burlesk'. Spirits by local distilleries FEW, Koval, Chicago Distilling, CH, and more! 8 p.m., $25 standard cover charge, or inclusive wristband options available.

Dec. 14 - "Songs from My Holiday Closet" - an evening of heartwarming and hilarious "holiGay" music featuring the lyrics of Larry Todd Cousineau. This revue features Christin Boulette, John Cardone, Ashlee Anthony, Russ Coutinho, Bill Johnson, James Morehead, Cindy O'Connor, Mike O'Mara and Patrick Sinozich. Musical direction by James Morehead. Performances at 7 and 9 p.m., $20 cover charge.

Dec. 22-30 - Closed to prepare for New Years Eve.

Dec. 31 - The 4th Annual New Year's Eve Hullabaloo! Anything's possible at this ultimate holiday party extravaganza - last year, Chicago's Finest even paid a visit! Cocktail hour, champagne toast, horsd'oeuvres, the best in burlesque and variety entertainment, in an immersive speakeasy atmosphere with special guests who mingle about the crowd all night.Ticket prices include all of the above with a special 2-hr performance that culminates at Midnight with the countdown to 2016. The party continues with a 6-piece jazz ensemble all night long. Tickets on sale November 1st. Early Bird rates and Couple Ticket Specials, starting as low as $60 per person are available.

THEMED NIGHTS

Wednesdays are for laughs with Brass Chuckles Comedy: Comedy that Kicks Ass!, programmed and hosted by the one and only, Tamale Rocks. Each Wednesday features the area's best and brightest comedians performing stand-up and improv based on a nightly "Performer Challenge." After the mainstage show, there is an open-mic opportunity where anything is fair game. 9 p.m. show, $10 cover.

Thursday's are magical with Chicago Magic Lounge presenting old-school illusions fromtable-hopping magicians to main stage acts who elicit a whole lot of WOW. Then stick around for the popular "Magic Bar" - an historical take on the magic clubs of yesteryear where everyone is a magician, even the bartenders. Grab a drink and be amazed and amused. The Chicago Magic Lounge mainstage show begins at 8 p.m. Magic Bar only admission begins at 10 p.m.

Acrobatica Infiniti Circus performs its intimate variety and circus show "After Dark." A unique blend of cosplay and jaw-dropping circus acrobatics, Acrobatica Infiniti showcases new works and fan favorites each week from silly to sensual: fire eating, trapeze, straps, juggling, hula hooping, aerial ring, comedy, acrobatics and more.

Dramageddon serves as host to a series of experimental variety shows by The Doomsday Cabaret. A multitude of artists combine forces to create unique cabaret acts from mutual inspirations from the Apocalypse to Cult Classic Hits to Zombies and more.

Pervesk' Burlesk' closes Saturday nights with a perverted take on a holiday classic."Massacre on 34th Street" puts a unique spin on the holiday-feel-good "Miracle on 34th Street" and features burlesque and variety acts inspired by the darker aspects of the holiday. Family squabbles, drug abuse, naughty turkey stuffing techniques, Krampus, Grinches, Jack Frost, Hum-bugs, Jacob Marley, Christopher Columbus, Gremlins and more.
