The large-scale spectacle and public art group Redmoon has just announced dates for the URBAN INTERVENTIONS tour of Chicagoland from June 18th to October 14th, 2012. Beginning in June, throughout the summer and across the city, Redmoon will deliver a series of original events in order to intervene into different urban scenarios and disrupt Chicagoans' daily routines. Redmoon is partnering with communities in the North, South, and West to share its art and theater at local festivals, parades, and other public gatherings. Each event will feature one of three highly engineered central objects working in concert with a team of artists and performers to support the unique stories that Redmoon has to tell, designed with the goal of creating spontaneous celebration and community within each urban locale.

The three new productions are collaboratively conceived and designed by Jim Lasko, Frank Maugeri and Alex Balestrieri. Redmoon engineers and designers include Bill Tellman (co-engineered The Ladder Machine, The Fire Organ, and the Dis/Re Placement Vehicle), Collin Smith (co-engineered The Ladder Machine, The Fire Organ, and the Dis/Re Placement Vehicle), Steven Lockwood (engineer), Zachary Perrault (engineer), Sue Haas (costumes), Mikhail Fiskel (Mobile DJ), Dustan Creech (engineer), Davide Nanni (set designer), Christopher Furman (engineer), Kurt Rhode (engineer), Carrie Ahaus (painter), Matt Sabin (sound engineer), Emily Breyer (aesthetic artist), Ben Farmer (audio/flame effect interface).

The Performance Objects:

"The Hawkman and his Entourage"
A winged parade, featuring the flight of the Hawkman Prince and his 22 Punk Bird Entourage. The Hawkman's wingspan reaches 13 feet while he is perched atop a 30-foot extension ladder. His entourage is equipped with robotic helmets and antique-wallpapered megaphones.

"Dis/Re Placement"
The Dis/Re Placement machine has two forks - one in the front and one in the back. Both lift and move highly-adorned rooms which appear to have been recently ripped from a foreclosed building. Five performers execute a spectacular "architectural ballet" of comedy, drama, and tragedy high above the audience.

"DJ Fire"
A "Mobile DJ" mixes and samples live music into a sonic frequency interface that translates sound into breathtaking jets of flame emitted by a 12-pipe fire organ.
