TimeLine Theatre announced today that actor Stef Tovar will replace Bret Tuomi in the pivotal role of corporate pariah Jeffrey Skilling in its current hit production of ENRON by Lucy Prebble, beginning on Wednesday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m.

Tuomi is leaving Enron to return to the role of Hertz in the musical Rock of Ages at the Helen Hayes Theatre on Broadway. Tuomi's return will put him at over 400 performances in that role on the national tour and Broadway.

Back at TimeLine, Tovar will play Skilling for the final 12 performances of Enron, now through April 15. Founder of Route 66 Theatre Company, Tovar is perhaps best known to Chicago audiences for his acclaimed performance last season in A Twist of Water, which will play off-Broadway at 59E59 Theaters this fall. Other credits with Route 66 include High Fidelity and On an Average Day. Elsewhere he has appeared in Moonlight and Magnolias for Fox Valley Rep, Ragtime at Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook, Knute Rockne: All American at Theater at the Center, Below the Belt for American Blues Theatre and Blade to the Heat at Apple Tree (Jeff Award, Best Supporting Actor).

Crafted as sprawling tragedy mixed with savage comedy, Enron, directed by Rachel Rockwell (Best Director, Chicago magazine, 2010), follows a group of ambitious men and women through the breathtaking rush of greed and fraud that led to a legendary financial collapse. Along the way audiences gain disturbing insight into the backroom secrets of big business and confront a world where appearance has little relation to reality.

TimeLine Theatre is located at 615 W. Wellington Avenue, inside the Wellington Avenue United Church of Christ building, in Chicago's Lakeview East neighborhood. Final performances of Enron are Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. (except 8:30 p.m. on Thursday 4/5), Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. The show must close on April 15. Tickets are $32 (Wednesday - Friday) or $42 (Saturday & Sunday). Student discount is $10 off the regular ticket price with valid ID. Group rates for groups of 10 or more are available.

Up next at TimeLine is the much-anticipated world premiere of My Kind of Town by John Conroy, directed by Nick Bowling, May 1 through July 29, 2012.

TimeLine Theatre Company, named one of the nation's top 10 emerging professional theatres (American Theatre Wing, founder of the Tony Awards®), Best Theatre in Chicago (Chicago magazine, 2011) and the nation's theater "Company of the Year" (The Wall Street Journal, 2010), was founded in April 1997 with a mission to present stories inspired by history that connect with today's social and political issues.
