Tin Cup Gypsy Celebrates Calico With A National Tour

Folk pop band Tin Cup Gypsy celebrates the release of their new album Calico with a national tour in support of Orla Fallon (Celtic Woman 2004-2008), kicking off March 24 in Salt Lake City and running through May 3 in Chicago, IL.

This prestigious tour not only comes on the heels of the release of the band's debut full-length, but also of being hand-picked by country music superstar and RCA recording artist Sara Evans for her Fall 2010/Winter 2011 tour. Evans has praised Tin Cup Gypsy's songs, musicianship, and "soaring vocals," adding, "They have it all. An incredible blend of so many styles and sounds, but done in a way that I've never heard before...It's a sound as familiar as a newborn morning, in a place you've never been before."

The eclectic style of Tin Cup Gypsy -JoNathan Lawson, his brother JorDan Lawson, his wife Cassandra Lawson, and new addition Tyler Oban - is never more evident than on their recently released debut album, Calico. The product of six months of collaborative effort (including shared songwriting and vocal responsibilities), Calico blends a variety of musical shades, from pop-country to retro swing, into a unique acoustic tapestry. Staying true to their namesake, the young members of Tin Cup Gypsy take the listener on a musical caravan - each turn revealing a new musical landscape with smart and evocative lyrics, as on the piano-driven "Words," the string-laden "To the Sea," and fan favorite "She Just Is." The follow-up to their 2008 self-titled EP, Calico is comprised of almost entirely new and previously unreleased material, with the exclusion of "Wildfire," which was previously released only as a digital single in 2009.

The tour with Orla Fallon - who also personally selected the Nashville-by-way-of-Arizona musicians to join her on the road - will be the perfect showcase for Tin Cup Gypsy's unique fusion of musical styles, which range from traditional to earthy to improvisational. As their varied instrumentation (which includes mandolin, violin, concertina, acoustic guitar, percussion, and bass) along with their soaring three-part harmonies - often trading off lead vocal responsibilities - create a unique blend that attracts a diverse group of listeners.

The tour will hit theaters and performing arts centers in major markets and college towns across the U.S., including Wolf Trap in Washington D.C., the Boulder Theater, the Southern Theatre in Columbus, the Murat Theatre in Indianapolis, and Philadelphia's World Café Live.

Audiences have already discovered Tin Cup Gypsy not only at their live performances, but also on an impressive number of national television appearances for a band so young and early in their careers: The Martha Stewart Show, The View, Good Morning America, Today, CMT's Cross Country, Grand Ole Opry Live, and Jimmy Kimmel Live, to name a few. Fans will also recognize them from their collaborations with such multi-platinum recording artists as Maroon 5, Lorrie Morgan and Josh Turner, and from their appearances in music videos alongside in music videos for Bon Jovi, Trisha Yearwood, and Blake Shelton.
