City Winery Chicago, 1200 W. Randolph Street, announces an evening with popular Grammy Award-winning vocalist and film composer Randy Newman, Grammy-nominated R&B singer Maysa, indie-folk band The Accidentals with Jake Allen and more. The following shows go on sale to the public on Thursday, June 29 at noon at citywinery.com/chicago.

An Evening of John Lennon - featuring Phil Angotti, Tommi Zender & Casey McDonough

Longtime Chicago-based Beatles music interpreter Phil Angotti, along with Tommi Zender (guitars) Casey McDonough (bass) Joe Camarillo (drums) and Dick Schmidt (keyboards) present a two-set chronological retrospective of the music of John Lennon. The evening will include Beatles favorites as well as hits from Lennon's solo career.

Tower of Power was formed in 1968 in Oakland and has become one of the most recognized R&B horn bands in the U.S. Over the years, the group has recorded with hundreds of artists as diverse as Aerosmith, Elton John, Little Feat, Phish, Santana, Heart and many others, forever infusing the radio airwaves with Tower's musical DNA. Each year they tour the United States, Japan and Europe, playing to sold out crowds all over the world. This year, the band plans to release a new album to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Maysa first gained fame as the featured voice on Incognito's defining `90s era hits such as "Don't You Worry About A Thing," "Still A Friend of Mine" and "Deep Waters." She then launched a concurrent solo career with the hits "Am I Wrong (For Lovin' You)," "Friendly Pressure" and "Hypnotic Love." Maysa's alluring vocals, candor, humor and purity as an artist make her a rarity in this business. She has collaborated with a variety of artists, including Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Incognito and Angela Bofill. After celebrating her 26th year as a solo artist, the Grammy-nominated singer kicks off the summer with her new album, Love is a Battlefield, released in May. This album is a hand-picked collection of Maysa's favorite songs redone with her unique soulful twist.

Howard Hewett

Howard Hewett is an American R&B and gospel singer and former lead vocalist of the R&B group Shalamar. He started singing as a child fronting his older sisters in the Hewett Singers, which toured the gospel circuit. Hewett got his mainstream break as the male vocal lead in Shalamar, a centerpiece of Dick Griffey's SOLAR (Sound of Los Angeles Records) label. The group gave the world feel-good dance favorites "The Second Time Around" and "A Night to Remember," as well as a number of beautiful B-side ballads like "You Can Count On Me" and "Somewhere There's a Love." In the mid-eighties, Hewett set out on his solo career, and has since released 10 solo albums. Subsequent projects have solidified Hewett's place in the high ranks of R&B balladeers by writing and collaborating and lending his voice with an impressive group of crooners, including George Duke, Quincy Jones, James Ingram, Anita Baker, Prince and Stanley Clarke. He continues to tour and intermittently release new music.

An Evening with Randy Newman

With songs that run the gamut from heartbreaking to satirical and a host of unforgettable film scores, Randy Newman has used his many talents to create musical masterpieces widely recognized by generations of audiences. After starting his songwriting career as a teenager, Newman launched into recording as a singer and pianist in 1968 with his self-titled album Randy Newman. Throughout the 1970s he released several other acclaimed albums. In addition to his solo recordings and regular international touring, Newman began composing and scoring for films in the 1980s, including The Natural, Awakenings, Ragtime, all three Toy Story pictures, Seabiscuit, James and the Giant Peach and more. His many honors include six Grammys, three Emmys, and two Academy Awards, as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Newman just announced Dark Matter (Nonesuch Records) his first album of all new material since 2008, will be released in August. With every online ticket purchased, audience members will receive a choice of either a standard physical or standard digital copy of Dark Matter on August 4th, 2017. Instructions will be sent via email on how to redeem the album after ticket purchase.

The Accidentals with Jake Allen

Traverse City, Michigan-based Indie-folk band The Accidentals have recorded three original albums, were guest artists on fifteen others, scored two films, and landed song placements in commercials, documentaries, and music compilations while playing over seven hundred live shows all before graduating from the world-renowned Interlochen Arts Academy high school. They have been named Billboard's Breakout Band at SXSW 2015, Huffington Post's Sweet Sixteen of 2016, and Yahoo Music's Top Ten Bands to Watch 2017. In June of 2016, the band released a brand new, self-produced EP called Parking Lot, of which the single, "Michigan and Again," went viral. Its first full-length album, Odyssey, will be released in August. At age 5, Jake Allen began exploring synthesizers and recording music in his father's Northern Michigan studio. By 14, he had become proficient with a variety of instruments and he solidified his commitment to a life of producing and performing music. Allen has produced several acclaimed solo records, singing and playing every instrument himself. In addition to his solo endeavors, he has toured the U.S. several times with his backing band bringing his lush Studio Productions to life on stage. These live efforts have garnered endorsements from musical gear companies like Takamine, Fender and Gretsch guitars.

City Winery also announces Brett Anderson of Ha Ha Tonka opens for Rhett Miller (Jul. 9);

Brian Dunne opens for Pat McGee (Jul. 29); and Lewis Watson opens for Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors (Oct. 28).

All City Winery events are open to all ages and start at 8 p.m., unless noted.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday, June 29 at noon. Opened in 2012, City Winery Chicago is a fully operational winery, restaurant with outdoor patio, concert hall and private event space located in the heart of the West Loop at 1200 W. Randolph, in the historic urban Fulton Market district. Once a refrigerated food distribution warehouse, the 1911 building has been transformed into a contemporary 33,000 square foot haven for those passionate about wine, music and culinary arts. The décor evokes the romance of being in wine country, from the exposed stainless steel fermenting tanks and French oak barrels, to the aroma of fermenting grapes.
